TEHRAN - President Hassan Rouhani on Friday congratulated his Cuban counterpart Raul Castro on the 57th anniversary of the Caribbean country’s revolution, Tasnim reported on Saturday.

Rouhani extended his “sincere” congratulations to the Cuban nation and government as the country celebrated the anniversary of the overthrow of the U.S.-backed dictator Fulgencio Batista in 1959.

The Iranian president expressed the hope that ties between Tehran and Havana would further develop in the light of the mutual cooperation between the two sides.

Rouhani also wished good health and success for Castro and prosperity for the Cuban nation.
